WSL Customized Vintage Reversible "Zipper Club" Reaper Skull T-Shirt
This is a collection of customized vintage clothing inspired by the poetry in Words Saved Lives. The collection's title, "Feasting on the Blood of Doubt + the Bones of Fear", is a line from the poem "Phoenix". This is also a mantra of sorts for the poet and creator of the collection meant as a reminder to live a life free of self-doubt and fear. The collection has been created by hand using vintage needle and thread, paint, brush and hand-made stencils. The collection seeks to inspire others to recycle, reduce and reuse wherever possible. This is slow-fashion and each vintage item took a considerable amount of time to create and customize. Hopefully, they become the wearer's favorite old item of clothing that they continue to personalize over the course of the life of the garment.
This one-of-one vintage t-shirt has been customized so that it is now reversible and can be worn on either side. The signature skull logo has been added to the chest on the reversed side in white. A hand sewn "Zipper Club" detail down the center of the skull honors Dr. Daniel H. Williams. Dr. Williams was African-American and the first man to successfully perform open-heart surgery in the world. The term "Zipper Club" refers to the group of people that have gone through open heart surgery leaving them with a zipper like scar on their chest. Dr. Williams lived fearlessly and his inspiration will be continuously revisited throughout WSL customized vintage collections.
Red “Collection No. 1” label has been hand sewn to garment and is easily removed. Cutting up the label + creating your own skull patch is highly encouraged.
